Some
Answers to Common Questions About the Business Check Card |
| |
"How
does the Business Check Card work and where can it be
used?" |
|
Business
Check Card is a card that works like a check.
It can be used at any of the merchants worldwide that
accept MasterCard.
At
stores, restaurants, hotels, gas stations and other MasterCard
merchants, it works like a check
and purchases are deducted right from the checking account
associated with the card.
Please be aware that some merchants pre-authorize
transactions for a higher amount than expected to assure funds
are available for adding a tip, using hotel room service,
extending a stay or other such incidentals. A hold for
the pre-authorized amount is temporarily placed
on the checking account until the final transaction is paid
(usually within 3 business days). The dollar amount
of the hold will not be available for use in other transactions
until final settlement of the transaction occurs, at which
time the hold will be released and the transaction will post
to the account.
On
special request, the Business Check Card can be customized to
allow use at ATMs and other locations to get cash and
perform additional types of transactions by using a PIN.

"How are
Business Check Card purchases tracked?" |
A
receipt will be provided, just like a cash, check or
credit card transaction, every time the card is used.
All of the Business Check Card transactions will appear
on the monthly bank account statement, in Bank OnLine and on
Bank-By-Phone. Bank
OnLine is an excellent way to see Check Card transactions,
including holds placed on funds for transactions which have
not yet reached final settlement.

|
"Is the
Business Check Card safe?" |
Yes.
The Business Check Card can be replaced if it is lost
or stolen. MasterCard
also provides liability protection from certain kinds of
employee misuse.
|
|
"The
Business Check Card has a MasterCard symbol on it, but it's
not a credit card, right?" |
The
Business Check Card is not a credit card.
Although it is accepted by merchants just like any
other MasterCard, the amount of your purchase is always
deducted directly from the checking account associated with
the card, so there is no finance charge or bill at the end of
the month.
|
|
"What are
the Business Check Card daily limits?" |
The standard Business Check Card
limits allow purchases up to $1500 on a daily basis, as long as the funds are available in
the checking account associated with the card.
Limits can be customized, however, for each cardholder.
Contact Customer Service for more information on
customizable limits.
|
| "Can
the Business Check Card access overdraft protection?" |
Some
types of overdraft protection can be accessed by using the Business
Check Card at ATMs (if ATM access is set up on the card), in
point-of-sale (POS) transactions and through other electronic
means, up to established daily limits. If the checking account
associated with your Business Check Card has overdraft protection,
contact Customer Service or a Personal Banker for the details.

|
"Who can

authorized to sign on the checking account associated with the
