Check Card
|
|
No. Check Card is the only card you need to access your American Bank accounts.
|
|
|
You’ll receive a receipt every time you use it. Simply record them in your checkbook register when it’s convenient. All of your Check Card transactions will appear on your monthly bank statement, in Bank OnLine and Bank-By-Phone.

It's simple. Just follow these easy steps At ATMs
- Look for the American Bank, Pulse or Cirrus
symbols.
- Insert your card and follow the on-screen
instructions. There is no charge for American Bank customers to use our
bank's ATMs. When you use your card at other ATMs in this area and
worldwide, there is a small American Bank fee, in addition to any surcharge
by the operator of that ATM.
- Record the amount plus any fees in your
checkbook.
At stores, gas stations,
restaurants and other merchants
- Look for merchants that accept MasterCard debit cards.
- You or the merchant swipe the Check Card
through the terminal. If the merchant swipes the Check Card, the transaction
is processed and a sales slip is printed out. If you swipe the Check Card,
you will be asked to select the type of payment. You can either choose
Credit or Debit/ATM. The amount is automatically deducted from your primary
American Bank checking account either way.
- Sign the receipt or enter your PIN. If you
choose "Credit" or it is a merchant transaction, you will receive
a sales slip to verify and sign and a receipt to keep. If you choose
"Debit/ATM" you will follow the terminal instructions, enter your
PIN and verify the total amount. Some merchants offer a cash back option
which lets you authorize more than the purchase amount and receive the
difference in cash.
- Record the total in your checkbook.

Check Card is an ATM card that also works like a check. You can use it at all American Bank, Pulse and Cirrus ATM locations and at any of the millions of merchants worldwide that accept MasterCard debit cards.
At ATMs you use it with your PIN to get cash, check balances and make transfers between American Bank accounts.
At stores, restaurants, and other MasterCard debit card merchants, it works like a check and purchases will be deducted right from your primary checking account.

Yes. Check Card can be replaced if it is lost or stolen, and you are protected from unauthorized use. See the card holder agreement for details.

|
Check Card is not a credit card. Although it may be accepted by merchants that accept the MasterCard debit card, the amount of your purchase is always deducted directly from your primary checking account, so there is no finance charge or bill at the end of the month.

Some types of overdraft protection can be accessed by using your Check Card at ATMs, in point-of-sale (POS) transactions and through other electronic means, up to established daily limits. If you have overdraft protection on the checking account tied to your Check Card, contact Customer Service or a Personal Banker for details on your specific situation.
