American Bank Holding Corporation has named Richard Scanio its President, effective January 1, 2019. Making the announcement was Patricia Hawn Wallace, chairman of the holding company’s board.
Scanio joined the American Bank Holding Corporation board in January 2018 and will continue to serve as a director. His affiliation with American Bank began in 1989. After serving as Chief Lending Officer for several years, Chief Operating Officer responsibilities were added to his role in 2007. He was named President in 2009 and, additionally, Chief Executive Officer in 2016. Scanio became Vice Chairman of the bank’s board of directors in 2017 and continues in that role, actively involved as an ambassador for American Bank in the Coastal Bend area and as a leader in the Texas banking industry through his board position with the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT).
Prior to joining American Bank, Scanio held lending positions with several financial institutions in Austin, Texas including Austin Savings Association, Alliance Bank and MBank. He holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
“Richard’s leadership at American Bank over the last 30 years has been critical to the success of the bank, and I can think of no one better suited to lead the holding company,” said Mrs. Wallace. “Richard exemplifies the best of career community bankers, and brings valuable knowledge, expertise and experience to the board as we manage the holding company’s activities,” she added.
