American Bank to Pursue New Ways of Connecting with Corpus Christi Community
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX | April 23, 2024
For the past two decades, American Bank has proudly sponsored the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi. After careful consideration, American Bank has decided to pursue new ways of connecting with its clients and the Corpus Christi community and will end its naming rights sponsorship at the conclusion of the current contract.
“Twenty years ago, the City approached American Bank and asked for our help with the Center’s naming rights,” said Mark Meyer, American Bank’s Market President for South Texas. “Corpus Christi is American Bank’s headquarters and we saw this as a great opportunity to support our hometown. This partnership served the City and our bank very well for many years and we’ve maintained a great relationship with the City. It’s now time for American Bank to pursue new and different ways to support the Corpus Christi community and our clients.”
American Bank originally assumed naming rights for the American Bank Center in 2004, including sponsorship of the arena, Selena auditorium, and the convention center at the American Bank Center complex. This initial agreement was eventually extended for another 10 years in 2014. The current naming rights agreement with the City of Corpus Christi is set to expire on September 30, 2024.
"We’ve had a great experience as the title sponsor for the American Bank Center,” said Stephen C. Raffaele, American Bank President and CEO. “We took on the naming rights at a pivotal point in our bank’s 54-year history. Twenty years ago, we had a handful of branch locations, and now today, we have 19 banking locations across South and Central Texas. The Coastal Bend is home, and we have an unwavering commitment to Corpus Christi as our headquarters. We’re grateful for the trust our clients have put in American Bank, and we look forward to continuing to serve their needs well into the future.”
Over the next several months, American Bank will work with the City and its representatives to ensure a smooth transition of the naming rights.
