Steven Lufburrow Joins American Bank's Houston Regional Board
HOUSTON, TX | May 6, 2025
American Bank recently announced the appointment of Steven P. Lufburrow to its Houston Regional Board.
Lufburrow is the recently retired President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Houston and former Executive Director of the Goodwill Industries of Houston Foundation. Under his more than 38 years of leadership, Goodwill Houston experienced unprecedented growth, becoming one of the city’s largest employers. In 2014, Lufburrow received the highest honor given to a Goodwill CEO, the Kenneth K. King Fellowship CEO of the Year. In 2022, he was honored by Houston Business Journal as one of “Houston's Most Admired CEOs.”
Lufburrow’s passion for nonprofit leadership extends beyond his decades of service to Goodwill. Throughout his career, he served in numerous volunteer leadership roles with nonprofit organizations, including as a board member of the Galleria Chamber of Commerce; vice president of the Houston Club Board of Directors; president of the Rotary Club of Houston; president of the Texas Association of Goodwill; and a past member of the St. Luke's UMC Foundation Board; the Houston Club Board of Governors and the Rotary Club of Houston Foundation.
“Steve is a great addition to our Houston Regional Board, and I’m so pleased to have him join our team,” said Glenn Clements, American Bank’s Vice Chairman for Houston. “Steve is also a great fit for the culture at American Bank and I look forward to working alongside him to further introduce American Bank to the Houston business community.”
“As a long-time member of the Houston business community, I recognize the importance of working with a bank that understands business as well as community needs,” said Lufburrow. “American Bank brings the resources and aptitude of a large bank with the personal touch and relationship focus of a much smaller institution. I’m honored to join the Houston Regional Board for American Bank and support people who genuinely care about the Houston community.”
