Meet Our Austin Bankers
John Greenwood
Market President - Austin
As the Austin Market President, I am responsible for all commercial banking activities in the greater Austin area. I have more than 22 years of financial institution experience including the management of teams focused on middle market and business banking clients. What attracted me to American Bank is our philosophy of always doing the right thing, which was the core philosophy of our late founder, George S. Hawn, as well as our focus on building long-lasting and personal relationships with our clients.
As a native Austinite and graduate of Westlake High School, I have been witness to the tremendous growth and change in our community. One of my passions is to give back and I have enjoyed working with many organizations in both a leadership and volunteer capacity including the March of Dimes, Ronald McDonald Charities of Central Texas, and Habitat for Humanity. When I am not engaged in community development or helping our clients achieve their dreams, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two young children.
I am proud to be a part of American Bank and look forward to continuing the legacy of our founders over the next 50 years.
Joe Petet
Vice Chairman - Central Texas
I’ve been blessed to be part of the Texas banking community for the past 50 years. During this time, I’ve experienced the ebbs and flows of the Texas economy. I’ve seen banks come and go, and strategies succeed and fail. And for the past five decades, American Bank’s core philosophy to always ‘Do the right thing!’ has not wavered. This philosophy propels the relationships we build with our clients and the decisions we make every day. American Bank is a true, Texas community bank. That means we are deeply rooted in our state and the communities we serve, and we are committed to helping our communities grow and develop. That commitment enables us to help our clients succeed by delivering innovative products, capital for growth, and the highest level of service, security and sound business practices. I’m proud to be part of the American Bank legacy, and would welcome a conversation about why American Bank is the right fit for you and your business.
Francisco Albornoz
Vice President & Commercial Lending Officer
I joined American Bank after establishing my career with a decade of experience at a regional commercial bank. My primary focus has always centered around identifying high quality business prospects, cultivating relationships with the leadership of those organizations, and delivering industry-specific expertise to build a portfolio of valued clients. I pride myself on developing a partnership built on trust, which I achieve through a consultative and personal approach. I get to know my clients, their families, their personal and professional goals, and their communication styles. As a native Austinite, I enjoy engaging with the local community. I have served on the Board of Directors of the Hill Country Conservancy, participated in Leadership Austin’s Emerge program and supported various nonprofit and industry organizations including I Live Here, I Give Here, RECA, the Austin Chamber of Commerce, and RMA. When I’m not helping local businesses thrive, I enjoy traveling, cooking, hunting, and something vaguely approximating golfing.
Clare Branson
Senior Commercial Lending Officer
As an experienced Austin lender providing construction loans to builders, developers, and individuals, I like to focus on making the process as smooth as possible. The most rewarding aspect of my job is building personal relationships with clients as each project progresses. From a small bungalow to a large condo project, housing is vital to any community, and I am honored to participate in Austin’s transformation. American Bank is a community bank that focuses on helping clients achieve their dreams – I am grateful to be a part of that mission through home financing. I have served on the board of the Home Builder’s Association of Greater Austin and Austin Junior Forum. I love to volunteer whenever possible. When I’m not with my grandkids, I enjoy visiting the Violet Crown Trail and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
Chad Jacobi
Senior Vice President & Commercial Lending Officer
I have more than 20 years of commercial banking and treasury experience in the Austin Market. I have worked with a variety of industries, family offices, and real estate investors within the area. My goal has always been to provide my clients with an exceptional banking experience that helps their business prosper and succeed. At American Bank, I’m able to build relationships with my clients and members of my community, which is what community banking is all about. I have called Austin home for more than 20 years. I enjoy being involved in the community through my work with the Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Great Austin Chamber of Commerce, and Mobile Loaves and Fishes. I currently serve on the Board of The First Tee of Greater Austin. When I’m not working for my clients or helping a local organization, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, grilling, golfing, and hunting/fishing.
Jon Morgan
Senior Vice President - Commercial Lending Officer
I’ve spent the last 28 years serving the banking needs of clients throughout the Greater Austin area. During this time, I’ve held several leadership roles, including Senior Commercial Real Estate Manager, Senior Vice President, and Branch President. I’ve covered the spectrum of commercial banking and business development, from commercial real estate projects in office, retail, industrial, hospitality, churches, and homebuilders, to operating companies from practically every sector of the economy.
I hold an economics degree from Texas A&M University in College Station. I’m active in various community organizations, most recently serving as a board member for the Championship Hearts Foundation.
I am a native of Austin and second generation banker. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our grown kids, traveling, and being outdoors hunting, fishing, boating, and hiking.
American Bank is a perfect fit for me given its genuine culture, nimble size, and unlimited growth potential. The leadership team at American Bank is highly respected, and it’s a privilege to join such a reputable organization. I look forward to leveraging my experience and continuing to provide the outstanding banking services my clients deserve and expect, in a responsive and professional manner.
Matt Porter
Vice President & Commercial Lending Officer
One of the most rewarding aspects of my nearly 15 years in commercial banking, is the relationships and trust I get to build with my clients. Most of my experience is centered around the Professional, Medical, Dental, and Legal industries. I always strive to take an approach that focuses on open communication, responsiveness, and integrity. Whether it’s facilitating commercial real estate development, financing business expansion, or partner buy in/out funding, my main goal is to be your financial partner and provide timely guidance. I feel very fortunate to have grown up in Austin and to now be able to raise my own family in this wonderful city. When I’m not working, I serve as a member of The Paramount Theater, volunteer with Partnership for Children’s Rainbow Room and parent volunteer at Serene Hills Elementary.
David Story
Senior Commercial Lending Officer
Over my 17-year banking career, I’ve worked with clients from a variety of different backgrounds and industries, including hospitality, manufacturing, private banking and commercial real estate. I pride myself on taking the necessary time to understand a client’s business and working with him or her to find optimal solutions that fit their needs. Despite growing up in The Woodlands, Austin has always been a second home to me with the majority of my extended family living in the area. After graduating from Baylor University, my wife and I moved just west of town to Dripping Springs where we are currently raising our three boys. Outside of work, I spend the majority of my time volunteering as a baseball coach at Dripping Springs Youth Sports Association and also at my church, Austin Ridge Bible Church.
