Meet our Houston Bankers

As the Market President for Houston, I'm responsible for all commercial lending activities in the greater Houston area. I have more than 30 years of banking experience, including leading business development, treasury management, and lending services for multiple banks. Having in-depth knowledge of the Houston area, I bring a relational approach to banking that is very much in tune with American Bank’s philosophy of building personal connections.

I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. I serve on the FORE the Cure golf tournament board, benefiting the Texas Children’s Hospital, along with various other nonprofit organizations. In my free time I like to golf, hunt, fish, hike, and travel.

I've served on local, regional and national bank boards for more than 45 years and, during that time, I have experienced many financial ups and downs. During all financial times it is important to have a local banker who knows your business and your business community. When I was 18 years old, my family left Vietnam for freedom, education, work opportunities, and a better quality of life. Once in America, I learned that if you can dream it, you can achieve it. My banking career has spanned more than 25 years and each employment opportunity has added to my success. For the past 8 years, I’ve followed my passion of helping business owners achieve their goals. I enjoy opportunities that allow me to collaborate with clients from different backgrounds. My primary focus is commercial real estate investments, including owner and non-owner occupy real estate, industrial, office building, retail shopping center, and convenience store/gas stations.

As a Commercial Lending Officer, I am responsible for supporting the banking and financial needs of commercial banking clients throughout the Houston area. I collaborate closely with small-to-medium-sized businesses, as well as non-profits, to craft tailored solutions that cater to their unique business banking needs. I hold a business degree from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. Prior to being a Commercial Lender, I served in several roles at American Bank, including Process and Operations Manager for Commercial Lending and Wealth Management. When I’m not working, I commit my time to various organizations including the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA’s advisory board, the National Eagle Scout Association, and Houston Children’s Charity.

Over my 22-year professional career, I have been CFO of a large global semiconductor and electronic component distributor as well as a commercial banker delivering financial solutions to mid-sized companies (revenues of $10MM - $500MM). I joined American Bank to assist with the bank’s expansion into the Houston market in 2018. It’s rewarding to see what our team has accomplished and the number of clients we have helped achieve their professional and personal goals. In banking, service is the top differentiator. At American Bank, we strive to provide unparalleled service and we are well-positioned to compete with larger institutions, while being small enough to build personal connections.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and being involved in my kids’ various extracurricular activities. We are a family who enjoys traveling and anything outdoors. But my favorite escape is to our farm in the Texas panhandle.

I have a passion for forging meaningful solutions to the financial needs of C&I and CRE organizations. I've been in commercial banking for more than 40 years. This tenure includes some hands-on leadership in areas outside of traditional banking, such as selling a distressed company or running a start-up high-tech concern for wealthy investors.

I am a father of five and a grandfather to one, so far. I'm active in my church as life to me is about lifting others. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. When I have a few minutes to spare, I love reading a good book, scuba diving, or playing table tennis.
