Meet Our South Texas Bankers

As President of American Bank's South Texas Region, I am responsible for regional lending and credit approval in the Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, Rockport and Victoria markets. My career at American Bank began in 1997, when I joined as a Senior Lending Officer, and later served as Chief of Branch Administration and Chief Lending Officer. I have more than 40 years of banking experience and am a graduate of Class 17 of Leadership Corpus Christi.

I've volunteered with many area organizations, most recently as a board member of the South Texas Naval Foundation and the South Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America. I'm also a proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where I earned my finance degree.

Originally from Ohio, I moved to Corpus Christi in 1983. As a current resident of Flour Bluff and former long-time resident of Padre Island, I've worked at American Bank for more than 32 years. I also hold an accounting degree from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.

I currently serve as a Council Member for City of Corpus Christi District #4. Throughout my career, I've volunteered with a variety of organizations such as Visit Corpus Christi, Padre Island Business Association, Big Brother Big Sisters, American Cancer Society, and Corpus Christi Community Improvement Corporation.

For more than 35 years, I have had the privilege of serving clients within my community. I joined American Bank in 1995 to help continue the growth of this wonderful bank alongside the staff and the board. I consider myself blessed to have had the opportunity to really understand the vison of this privately held bank through our founders: George Hawn and Frank Scanio.

Whether it is Commercial lending, Treasury Management, or Trust and Wealth Management, our team has the expertise to help our clients grow their businesses and find financial solutions that align with their goals. I am always grateful when my clients send me a referral or introduce me to a new business partner. Being their banker is an honor. I often say “Buy Local” it is good for our community and for our clients.

Over the years, I’ve been involved in a number of organizations, on boards and committees. Currently, I’m involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Heart Association: Circle of Red, Art Museum of South Texas, and the Corpus Christi Yacht Club. I have a Finance Degree from TAMCC, I’m a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi Class 15 and a graduate of Leadership Texas. Additionally, I have been a Rotarian since 1995 and a Paul Harris Fellow since 1999.

When I have time away, for sure, I'm hiking in the mountains somewhere!

I've been blessed to not only be a part of the American Bank family for nearly thirty years, but to also have had the opportunity to build strong relationships with many successful and talented business owners. We are fortunate that our local economy is extremely diverse. I've had the privilege of supporting businesses in virtually every industry in our area, including restaurants, professional engineering firms, machine shops, manufacturing facilities, oil field service companies, legal and medical professional practices, and real estate development. It has been a tremendous honor to learn from so many talented clients, and I take pride in having played a part in helping them grow their businesses and seeing the positive impact those businesses have had on our community.

In my tenure, we have grown from a small community bank serving the Coastal Bend to being one of the most successful independent banks in Texas. We've accomplished this by following a simple model of taking the time to understand our clients’ needs and working diligently to achieve them. Outside of work, I've volunteered with a variety of non-profit organizations over the years including board service for the Volunteer Center and the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce. When my wife and I are not in the office, we enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors and visiting with friends.

With nearly five decades in the banking industry, I offer a unique blend of experiences in financial services and the petroleum industry. I'm a registered Professional Engineer in Texas, and previously worked in various roles at Exxon in the Texas Gulf Coast area. I have also served as a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists. I'm also a volunteer and past-President of the South Texas Council of Boy Scouts of America. I'm a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.

I joined American Bank in 2017, shortly after relocating to the Coastal Bend from my hometown of Houston. Upon being introduced to the American Bank team, I was drawn to the organization based on its family culture, authentic core values, and unique level of sophistication for a bank of its size. I realized quickly that American Bank was a well-respected institution in the community with deep relationships and a long history of delivering high quality service and products to its clients.

My career in banking and finance spans more than 20 years. During this time, I specialized in investment and corporate banking, where my responsibilities were focused on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance in the energy sector. I've also worked in public accounting, where I served primarily middle market to large clients, both public and private. At American Bank, I enjoy serving a broad and diverse client base, bringing expertise and service to clients ranging from commercial, industrial and healthcare, to family offices and high-net-worth individuals.

Over the past several years, American Bank has achieved significant growth in Corpus Christi and the greater Coastal Bend region, while also expanding into other key Texas markets. This growth has allowed us to better serve our existing clients, and expand the American Bank brand and its unique relationship-focused service model. All of this is a product of American Bank’s commitment to being a leading Texas regional bank.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and pursuing various outdoor activities, my favorite being saltwater fly fishing.

As a long-time member of the American Bank team, I have decades of professional commercial banking experience. This experience has been enhanced by learning from multiple generations of fellow bankers and clients all over Texas. Throughout my career, I have worked for the success of my clients and helped connect them with other relationships that they can benefit from. I enjoy advising clients as they grow and mature in life and business. 

I joined American Bank in 2021, and I've worked in the banking industry for more than 24 years. During this time, I've developed a variety of experiences in commercial and consumer banking. I’ve worked with clients from many industries, including commercial real estate and development, retail and hospitality, professional services, and tribal government. My approach to banking is to build strong relationships with all my customers. I take a great deal of pride in getting to know my clients and understanding their business so I can find solutions to help them achieve financial success. I'm thankful to be part of a community bank that focuses on helping clients achieve their dreams

I’m a graduate of South Dakota State University. I moved to the Coastal Bend area with my wife and our four kids in 2018. We love the Coastal Bend area and are very happy to call it “home.” And, we don’t miss South Dakota winters at all!

In the Coastal Bend area, I have served on the Del Mar College Foundation Board and been a member of the Six Points Kiwanis Club. I also currently serve as the President of River Hills Country Club Board of Directors, President of Calallen Golf Boosters, member of TISDO officials for Texas High School Swimming, and serve as the Youth Director and on the Board of Elders for our church.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends on the golf course and at the beach.

After more than 18 years in commercial banking, the key to my success has been focusing on helping my business clients to grow and succeed. There are no two businesses that operate the exact same way, and each have their own unique challenges. I pride myself in listening to my clients and collaborating with them to find solutions so that they may overcome those business obstacles.

After more than five decades in banking, I truly enjoy collaborating with clients and providing them with value-add solutions for both loans and deposits. I joined American Bank in 1995, and helped establish the Alameda branch and Saratoga branch, where I've been serving our clients and communities for over 28 years. 

Throughout my career, I have volunteered with many area organizations and have served on the boards of the Coastal Bend Home Builders Association and the Ronald McDonald House. I'm a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi Class XIV and I served on the steering committee for Leadership Class XVII. I was also recently invited to serve on the Board of the South Texas Botanical Gardens 

Throughout my 20-year banking career in the Corpus Christi area, I’ve been blessed to experience a variety of roles in the financial industry. I started as a part-time teller during high school and have spent time working in the retail division of banking and management. The knowledge and experience I’ve gained throughout the years have been instrumental in molding me into a commercial lending officer and private banker. In this role, I'm able to fulfill my ultimate calling of building relationships and partnering as a resource for my clients' success.

I'm a proud father of three, including twin boys and a beautiful daughter. I have no spare time (see previous statement). But if I did, and when I do again, I enjoy playing, watching and being involved in sports and overall fitness activities. My wife and I are active in our local church and enjoy building and enhancing our personal and business relationships.

My professional journey in commercial banking began on the analytical and credit underwriting side of the industry. With the goal of further advancing my career, I joined American Bank's commercial lending team in 2021. Over the years, I have gained experience in handling a diverse range of deals across various industries, including commercial real estate, family offices, agriculture, energy, industrial, medical, and professional sectors. I believe in delivering strong customer service to establish lasting relationships and making a commitment to the success of the clients I serve.

As a native of the Coastal Bend, I take immense pride in being an American Banker. Having the privilege to work for a reputable hometown institution that contributes to the financial well-being of our community is an honor. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and serve as a Commissioner on the Buccaneer Commission. Away from the office, I enjoy being outdoors – hunting, fishing, golfing, cooking, and spending time with my family.

I'm a 5th generation native of Port Aransas, a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, and a resident of the Coastal Bend area with a 27-year banking career. At American Bank, I'm the Market President and Senior Lending Officer for our Port Aransas branch. I love living and working in the community I call “home.”

My husband and I have two children, one at UT-Austin and one still in high school at Port Aransas ISD. In my spare time, I stay involved in numerous charitable organizations, including the Port Aransas Education Foundation, which I helped form in 2006. I also served as a Port Aransas City Council Member from 2015 to 2021, and then after a one-year break was elected Mayor of Port Aransas in 2022.

I'm American Bank's Market President for Rockport, where I offer a broad range of banking experiences. I also stay active serving within the banking industry and my community. I have served on the Independent Bankers Association’s Leadership Board, and most recently as the Region 7 President of their Leadership Division. I also served on the board of the Lone Star Bankers Association, Hill Country Bankers Association, and Wintergarden Bankers Association. I recently completed a two-year term as President of the Lonestar Bankers Association. I am currently serving on the Rockport-Fulton Chamber Board of Directors.

I earned a finance degree from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and am a native Texan who loves spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. My wife and I are proud parents to our three daughters. 

As American Bank's Market President for Victoria, I am responsible for all commercial banking activities in Victoria and the surrounding communities. I have 31 years of financial institution experience in and around the Victoria area. I’ve worked for two very large banks in my career, and I made a decision to move to American Bank in 2018. I’m glad to be in a community bank environment in which I can give excellent service to my commercial customers and developing long term client relationships.

As a native of Victoria, I earned an accounting degree from the University of Houston – Victoria in 1992. I enjoy staying active in the community and I have served with many organizations including the Victoria Associated Builders and Contractors, the Victoria Symphony, the Victoria Ballet, the Victoria ISD Education Foundation, and Making the Grade.

I’ve made it my life’s work to provide personal service through listening and understanding my customer’s business and family goals. This approach fits in perfectly at American Bank. I have more than 40 years of experience in commercial banking, including real estate, energy, agriculture, private banking, and Treasury Management. I’m proud to work for a financial institution focused on relationship banking and doing what’s right for the client.

I have served as Chairman of the Board for the United Way, Victoria Chamber of Commerce, Victoria Economic Development Corporation, Victoria Symphony Society and served as a Board member for the Red Cross, Theatre Victoria, and Associated Builders and Contractors. As a Senior Commercial Banker in Victoria, I provide financial services to clients in a variety of industries, including (but not limited to) construction, oil & gas, healthcare, and commercial real estate. I'm a life-long resident of Victoria and have spent my entire 35+ year banking career in the Victoria market.

Outside of work, I enjoy fishing in Port O’Connor, hunting and spending time with my family. I have four adult children and three grandkids with more on the way!
