American Bank Receives 2025 Cornerstone Award from Texas Bankers Foundation
AUSTIN, TX | June 4, 2025
The Texas Bankers Foundation selected American Bank as the recipient of the 2025 Cornerstone Award, acknowledging its partnership with the Foster Angels organization. This award recognizes outstanding community service projects and partnerships led by Texas banks that strengthen the communities they serve. The Texas Bankers Association recently announced the award winners during its 140th Annual Convention awards luncheon.
Founded in 1999 by Ted Oakley, the mission of Foster Angels is to improve the lives of children in foster care, ensuring each child has their basic needs met and providing life-enhancing, life-enriching opportunities whenever possible. American Bank has partnered with Foster Angels for more than two decades. Over this time, American Bank and its employees have supported Foster Angels of South Texas and Central Texas through sponsorships, events, donations, and financial literacy training designed to help young adults aging out of care.
“Foster Angels does such important work for our communities,” said Stephen C. Raffaele, American Bank’s President and CEO. “Foster Angels is an organization that makes a difference where and when it matters most. It’s this type of difference-making community support that also drives us at American Bank. Supporting our communities by helping our neighbors and friends is of the utmost importance to American Bank and our employees.”
“These awards celebrate the banks and bankers who serve as true cornerstones in their communities and as champions of financial literacy,” said Chris Furlow, President and CEO of the Texas Bankers Association. “The 2025 recipients have made a lasting difference through innovative programs, outreach efforts, and a deep commitment to helping Texans thrive. We are proud to honor their leadership and impact.”
In 2024, American Bank also received the Ted Oakley Legacy of Change award from Foster Angels of South Texas. This award honors an organization or individual whose philanthropic efforts are creating an exceptional impact to further the mission of Foster Angels of South Texas.
